LS Cable and LS Eco Energy announced a landmark agreement on the 6th to supply 35kV aluminum power cables to major solar EPC companies in the United States. The deal is valued at 25 million dollars (approximately 36.3 billion won) and marks the first time these medium-voltage (MV) class aluminum power cables will be shipped to U.S. soil.
High Durability for Expanding Solar Market
The newly supplied cables will be used to construct power grids for solar projects across several states, including California, New Jersey, and Indiana. They are designed to demonstrate high durability and stable high-voltage transmission even under harsh environmental conditions such as high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and dust.
High-Quality Products with UL Certification
In anticipation of the continued growth of the U.S. solar market, LS Cable and LS Eco Energy have focused on developing high-quality aluminum cables that meet UL certification standards. This strategic approach aligns with the rising demand in the solar industry and ensures that the companies’ products adhere to strict safety requirements.
Competitive Edge Amid “De-China” Policy
The order reflects the competitiveness of LS Cable and LS Eco Energy, particularly as the U.S. government calls for a “de-China” policy. In light of recent 45% tariffs on Chinese cables, the companies’ focus on non-Chinese raw materials has become a clear advantage. Stricter regulations on bypass exports using Chinese materials have further underscored the significance of reliable sourcing.
Plan for Broader Market Reach
A company official emphasized that LS Cable, LS Eco Energy, and related affiliates do not utilize Chinese aluminum and copper to ensure both product quality and supply chain stability. Going forward, they intend to expand their presence beyond the solar sector, targeting diverse power infrastructure projects to solidify their standing in the U.S. market.
